PROMOTING AWARNESS AND DISSEMINATING INFORMATION CONCERNING REHABILITATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
The Annual National Rehabilitation Conference
JSRPD stages National Rehabilitation Conference annually in order for the professionals of medical, educational, vocational, social, technical field and persons with disabilities themselves to work together more effectively for realization of “society for all”.
International Symbol of Access (ISA)
The International Symbol of Access, a universal sign to mark buildings and facilities that are accessible to people with disabilities, was adopted in 1969 by RI for the purpose of building barrier-free environments. JSRPD is authorized with the control of the use of this symbol in Japan and committed to promoting its wider and proper recognition.
SURVEY AND RESEARCH CONCERNING REHABILITATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
JSRPD sponsors recent surveys and research concerning:
- Providing and support of utilizing information to persons with disabilities.
- Practical use of the Internet for visually and hearing impaired persons at home.
- Application of DAISY for persons with cognitive and intellectual disabilities.
- Research on WHO International Classification of Functions.
- Promoting convention for the right of persons with disabilities.
- Quality of life for persons with disabilities.
- Information system for persons with disabilities in case of emergencies.
PROJECT TO PROMOTE COMPREHENSIVE STUDIES OF HEALTH AND WELFARE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
To support the studies of selected subjects regarding the Project to Promote Japanese Comprehensive Studies of Health and Welfare for Persons with Disabilities, JSRPD invites foreign researchers to Japan and likewise sends Japanese researchers abroad, and carries out contract research project with foreign institutes. It is also engaged in the development and effective utilization of young researchers (research residents).
Invitation of foreign researchers
JSRPD aims to upgrade the studies of health and welfare for persons with disabilities by inviting outstanding foreign researchers to Japan and by promoting international cooperation in research work.
Sending Japanese researchers abroad
JSRPD sends young researchers from Japan to foreign research institutes, universities etc. for comprehensive studies of health and welfare for persons with disabilities. These achievements are reflected in their respective research activities.
Contract research project with foreign institutes
It aims to obtain higher research outcome by asking foreign institutes and international consortiums which are considered to do effective surveys and research in carrying out comprehensive studies of health and welfare for persons with disabilities.
Development and effective utilization of young researchers (research residents)
JSRPD entrusts designated research institutes with training and development of young researchers who will serve in the future as the nucleus of scientific studies of health and welfare for persons with disabilities.
