DECEMBER 9 IS THE DAY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

On December 9 1975,the UN adopted the Declaration of Rights of Persons with Disabilities. To commemorate this day,the Disabled Persons’ Fundamental Law,enacted in 1993,adopted December 9 as the Day for Persons with Disabilities in Japan. Organizations of disabled persons have been campaigning for this day to be a National Holiday in the future using the symbol character KUPPY that was designed by Japan Council on Disability (JD).
