Promotion Program for Comprehensive Research on Disability, Health and Welfare

The Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (JSRPD) is a public-interest corporation established for the purposes of conducting research studies on the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and of working to promote rehabilitation programs for persons with disabilities in the context of international cooperation.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is advancing comprehensive disability, health and welfare policy measures starting in FY 2003 based on the government's Basic Programme for Persons with Disabilities and the Five-Year Plan for Implementation of Priority Measures.

As part of these efforts, JSRPD is now supporting efforts to improve and expand the foundations for research by implementing the Promotion Program for Comprehensive Research on Disability, Health and Welfare under commission from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. The program comprises five main activities: inviting foreign researchers to Japan, dispatching Japanese researchers abroad, consigning works to foreign research institutes, employing and fostering the development of young researchers (research residents) and holding conferences for announcing research results.

Although only principal researchers responsible for concerned research projects may apply, we would like to take this opportunity to give you an outline of the program. For further details regarding the program, please refer to the implementation guidelines.
